I am a low-vision artist working and living in Saint Catharines, Ontario. I paint primarily with acrylics on canvas or on Masonite board.
To compensate for impaired eyesight, I utilize visual aids, such as photography, magnifiers, and enlargements when creating my paintings. Using my own photographs as source material, I compose pictures by cropping and collaging visual elements, forms and details together. The resulting compositions are then unified by light and colour.
What interests me in general are a variety of subjects, including urban scenes, landscapes and figures. I often make images that record specific places and narratives, yet I want the content to transcend mere representation, so to convey moods, feelings and ideas.
